Facility operation, maintenance and service in water distribution and sewer collection systems. Work involves performance of tasks and operation of equipment, which entails considerable skill. Drives to location and checks reported problems. Repairs, replaces and maintains water/sewers lines, service, etc. Installs valves for water/sewer taps. Reads utility plats, flushes main lines, and inspects manholes and main line valves as necessary in order to determine cause of reported problem. Identifies type of problem and action required, i.e. sewer backup, main line break, etc. Performs daily checks on lift stations and water wells. Turns service on or off; pulls and reinstalls meters; re-reads meters as directed. Communicates results of inspection to customer; advises of action to be taken. Reads meters as required. Changes and installs chlorine cylinders. Repairs and maintains chlorinators. Member of chlorine response team. Installs, repairs and maintains electrical apparatus. Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of equipment. Ability to work on-call 24/7 rotating weekend work required with on-call pagers.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years related experience in maintenance, utility operations or inspections; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
