Work involves performance of manual tasks of more than ordinary difficulty requiring special knowledge or skills acquired through on the job training or experience. Assists in building forms for curbs and gutters, manholes, catch basins, storm drains, sidewalks, and pours concrete; repairs or replaces storm drain pipe, manholes, curbs, driveways, concrete steps, sidewalks, and catch basins, cuts and installs re-bar; loads and unloads heavy material. May assist in putting up street signs or work as a flag person for a road crew. Loads and unloads heavy materials from trucks, moves or aids in moving heavy boxes or equipment.

Education and Experience:

Must be a graduate from high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have some knowledge of equipment, materials, methods and procedures used in Public Works related maintenance, construction and/or repair.  Must have the ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. 

Must also have a valid Mississippi Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.
