Performs a variety of responsible technical and secretarial work involved in assisting the Utilities division of the Public Works Department, including filing and maintenance of utilities compliance reports and other Public Works or Utilities division documents. Performs routine and complex secretarial work inclusive of but not limited to the following; Assists utilities department in monitoring wastewater overflows in compliance with DEQ and EPA regulations. Assists in tracking and gathering information required for DEQ and EPA reports. Manage backflow compliance, tracking and reporting. Correctly completes daily and monthly reports; compiles information and submits reports as required; completes all paperwork in a timely manner. Composes letters independently.  Composes, transcribes, types, edits, duplicates and distributes a variety of correspondence, reports, and other materials from note, rough draft and verbal instructions, requiring judgment, accuracy and completeness. Responds to requests for information, etc. from customers, contractors, regulatory agency inspectors, etc. Performs duties unique to the department, division or office that are not of a clerical nature. 

Education & Experience

Graduation from high school and experience in operation of a personal type computer system; word processor; secretarial or business practices in performing office work; any water and sewer services experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Must have a valid Mississippi Driver’s License or ability to obtain one prior to employment. 

Have or be able to obtain a Water Operator Class D and Waste Water Operator Collection II certifications.
