Performs technical work in preparing budgets, processing line-item changes, and monitoring expenditures from approved budgets of the police department.Compiles budget information and prepares operating and/or capital budget for the police department. Assists with the preparation of the presentation and defense of the budgets. Processes line-item transfers from one account to another and researches problems with line-item changes. Initiates, processes, and monitors invoices, purchase orders, warrants, and claims dockets for proper coding and adequacy of funding. Prepares comparative budget reports, spreadsheets, and status reports. Reconciles advance per diem travel expense requests and per diem travel reimbursement requests. Assists the payroll clerk as needed. Prepares petit cash report.

Education and Experience:

Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, filing, accounting and bookkeeping, and

two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience; or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver’s License or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
