Re-dedication of Biloxi City Cemetery -- Oct. 4, 2007

More than 300 people turned out for the re-dedication of the Biloxi City Cemetery, where the city's history was celebrated through re-enactments by student actors and family members whose ancestors were intrred in the cemetery, which dates back to the 1700s.. "This is sacred ground," Mayor A.J. Holloway told those assembled during a brief cermeony before guided tours were conducted. The tours stopped at seven gravesites were actors dressed in period garb told about the life of those buried at the respective site. The cermeony was organized by the Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce, with support from the city, Beau Rivage Resort and Casino, Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home and other businesses.
