Oklahoma Christian University to offer free concert

The Oklahoma Christian University Bands will present a free concert Monday at 7 p.m. on the Town Green.

Featured university groups will include the Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dr. John Fletcher, and the Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Heath Jones.

The concert will offer a variety of musical styles, including traditional and contemporary concert band literature, plus a sampling of 60 years of big band jazz. This concert is part of a twelve-day tour that includes scheduled stops in Henderson, Tenn.; Montgomery, Ala.; Atlanta, Ga.; Brooksville, Mt. Dora, and Orlando, Fla.; Antioch and Nashville, Tenn.; Little Rock, Ark.

Musical groups from Oklahoma Christian University take annual tours to many regions of the United States. Highlights of past band tours have included performances at both Disney World and Disneyland, on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, on the steps of New York’s City Hall, and in such places as Dallas, Las Vegas, Louisville, Cincinnati, Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago, St. Louis, Atlanta, and Canada.
